When life falls apart, it may be the beginning of something far greater. What feels like destruction can become transformation; what we experience as loss can open the way to possibilities we could never have imagined.

Nature exists in a perpetual state of transformation. Nothing remains as it was, and neither do we. We are not destined to remain who we once were, but to continually evolve, grow and ascend towards new possibilities.

Ascendance celebrates the courage to embrace change, the resilience to rise through adversity, and above all, the faith to trust in the unfolding of life, even when its direction remains uncertain.

The traditional Chinese proverb “Be not afraid of growing slowly; be only afraid of standing still” speaks to the courage of perseverance. The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus similarly understood existence as continual movement and change. Centuries later, French chemist Antoine Lavoisier concluded “Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.”

The painting itself embodies this philosophy. Paint was poured, layered, scraped away and concealed. Every mark, alteration and surrendered form contributed to what ultimately emerged.

There is immense freedom in recognising that no version of ourselves is final. Our most challenging experiences can become the foundation for growth, revealing strengths and possibilities that can only emerge through change. When everything familiar falls away, have faith in what is unfolding. What appears to be an ending may be the very transformation that carries you towards the fullest expression of who you are yet to become.
