All Along

We spend much of our lives searching for love outside ourselves. Yet the most beautiful love we will ever discover may be the love that has lived within us all along.

There is something beautifully liberating in recognising that the love we have experienced was never entirely dependent on another person. Its depth and beauty are a testament to the immense capacity of our own hearts.

In Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom, John O’Donohue writes, “There is a wellspring of love within yourself.” The image of a wellspring suggests a source that continually flows and replenishes itself. His writing speaks of love not as something bestowed upon us by another, but as an inherent quality of our being.

Echoing this understanding, spiritual teacher Ram Dass writes, “Unconditional love really exists in each of us. It is part of our deep inner being.”

Passages from both writers emerge from rich layers of red, reflecting the extraordinary depth of love that lives within us. Every love we have known has revealed something of our own capacity to love. The people who touch our hearts may change, but the source of that tenderness remains within us, waiting to find new forms of expression.
